Arkam is the psychedelic trance & darkpsy project by Mauricio Olivares, DJ and Music producer from Costa Rica.

"When I decided to start producing psytrance music around 2012, I stopped going to parties for a while and decided to focus on my artistic process, spending hours and hours listening to and discovering music. Learning and understanding the density of the genre."

“When I began to learn about the genre, I discover an online portal called Ektoplazm, which was one of the first platforms to stream psytrance, techno, and downtempo music for free. It was one of my main tools for understanding the different subgenres, getting to know artists, and record labels.”

"At first, I was exploring all kinds of sounds, then I started to focus on certain frequencies - the ones that resonated with me the most.”

“I had many influences from Brazilian artists, as well as artists with dark and instrumental vibe: music that leads us to an introspective and nocturnal trance."

“When I mix at parties, I do it for the people. It's necessary to introduce new styles subtly and get people dancing to something they didn't know they liked.”
